Summer Staff Positions - 2010

Alpine Camp and Conference Center is located two hours East of Los Angeles and North of San Diego in the San Bernardino National Forest, near Lake Arrowhead, at an elevation of 5,300 feet.  Our prayer for those who serve here in this beautiful mountain setting is that Jesus Christ will impact their lives as well as those they are serving.

Applicant Instructions
  • Prayerfully consider God’s direction in your life for this summer.
  • Complete and send the application to Alpine.
  • Have (3) three letters of reference forwarded to Alpine.
  • Returning staff need only have (1) letter of reference forwarded to Alpine.
  • Have an interview with Human Resources.
  • Pass a background check.

Early applicants will be given priority.  Many positions are open for earlier arrival.  If you are available, please let us know.  The above six items must be completed before you may be hired.

Indian Village Positions

Indian Village, the "second happiest place on earth," is located in the woods above the Conference Center. Here, children learn about God’s love through interactive games, activities and Bible lessons. The Counseling Staff sleep in Teepees with campers and provide a safe and exciting environment that promotes the sharing of the gospel of Jesus Christ with children in grades 1 through 6.

Position Job Description
Chief Work collaboratively with a team to effectively evangelize children in grades 4-6 as well as day campers who may be younger.  Oversee all aspects of the program, staff and operations.  Assist Tribal Team in presenting Gospel message each evening.  Camp counseling experience, valid license and clean driving record a must.  Experience in supervising and managing people desirable—ability to resolve conflicts recommended.  Flexibility, creativity, spiritual maturity, and a love for junior age children are all desirable traits.  Must possess a servant’s heart and mindset and be available select weekends prior to camp for planning and preparation with Program Team.*Will begin prior to June 13, 2010.
Tribal Leaders
(4 – 2 male, 2 female)
Work collaboratively as a team in the leadership and implementation of all Indian Village activities; provide support and guidance for tipi counselors as well as responsibility for spiritual welfare of I.V. staff and campers.  Must be able to present a daily Bible lesson (Trail Talk), lead outdoor activities, assist or lead worship and assist or lead in presenting Gospel message at each evening Council Fire.  Camp counseling experience, valid license and clean driving record a must.  Ability to manage, supervise, and resolve conflicts desirable.  Flexibility, creativity, spiritual maturity and a love for junior age children required!  Must possess a servant’s heart and mindset and be available select weekends prior to camp for planning and preparation with Program Team. *Will begin prior to June 13, 2010.
Health Care Provider RN, LVN, EMT or upperclassman in nursing with CPR/1st Aid certifications, with valid driver’s license and clean driving record. Responsible for overseeing camper and staff health and safety. Administer medical attention and over the counter/prescription medications. Must keep accurate journal records and camper insurance forms. Responsible for infirmary and setting up transportation to the hospital. Refers to doctor’s orders when necessary. The health care providers will rotate between Indian Village and the Conference Center.  *Will begin prior to June 13, 2010.
Tipi
Counselor
(5 Male,
 5 Female)
Needs to be an enthusiastic leader, sensitive listener and a positive role model. Must enjoy outdoor life; be in good health and capable of explaining the gospel & your personal faith to children. Responsible for 24/6, all-around welfare of 8-10 campers on a weekly basis.  Will also have responsibilities for game and activity leadership, skit participation and leadership, campfire programming, kitchen and maintenance duties.
Caterer (2) Must possess a valid California driver’s license with a clean driving record. Must be friendly, physically healthy and willing to provide excellent service. Responsible for food preparation, delivery, service, stocking and kitchen cleaning for Indian Village. Responsible for driving and cleaning catering van. Must have good organizational skills and be able to work with children and adults, and able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Village Keeper Work collaboratively with Tribal Team as support staff.  Primary responsibilities are to assist caterers with meal prep and clean-up, daily housekeeping, grounds-keeping and Indian Village theme enhancement.  Additional responsibilities include assisting Tribal Team by teaching outdoor activity daily and campfire set-up.  Valid license and clean driving record a must.  Flexibility, creativity, spiritual maturity and a love for junior age children required!  Artistic ability, experience with hand and power tools, and minor maintenance experience are all desirable.  Must have a servant’s heart and mindset, and may be asked to participate in some planning and preparation with Program Team on select weekends prior to camp.


Conference Center Positions

Alpine Camp and Conference Center is alive with activity all summer long, accommodating over 275 campers each week. Both Guest Group and Program camps are conducted here. The ministry of the Conference Center Staff is to provide all campers with premium service.

Position Job Description
Host (3) Must have hospitality gifts/experience, flexibility, creative ideas, stamina, organizational abilities, good communication skills and a friendly personality. Will interact with guest leadership and the Conference Center staff. Will rotate being on call to serve the needs of the guests. Responsibilities include hosting meals, audiovisual and meeting room set-up, assisting program department as needed during programmed camps. *Will begin prior to June 13, 2010.

Head Lifeguard Must possess experience in Life Guarding and CPR/1st Aid certifications. Supervises and cares for lifeguard staff and schedules while managing the risks of pool-oriented instruction and recreation. Responsible for maintenance of the pool and its surrounding facility, equipment and water quality. Also assists the program department with the planning and execution summer camp program activities.
Lifeguard / Recreation Assistant (3) Must possess Life Guarding experience and CPR/1st Aid certifications. Involved in aquatic instruction, schedules and recreation while providing for safety and cleanliness. Recreation: assists in both the set-up and running of recreation activities. Also assists program assistants in the implementation of activities and events.
Gift Shop Assistant Experience with sales, cashiering and inventory helpful. Able to serve customers and maintain attractiveness of the store. A self-starter, able to work on own and well with youth. *Will begin prior to June 13, 2010.
Food Service - Utility (4) Must be friendly, possess physical health and stamina and be capable of providing excellent, Christ-centered service. Contributes to food preparation, dining room set-up and cleanliness of the dining hall and surrounding areas. Must follow directions, have good organizational skills and be able to work with children and adults.
Office Assistant Assists front office staff in serving parents and guests, including phone and in-person camp registrations. Pick-ups and distributes mail. Skilled in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. Other clerical work as needed. Willing to work early evenings and some weekend days. Possesses a valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
Audio / Visual Tech Skills in photography, web site maintenance, videography, video editing, and operation of sound enhancement equipment. Will co-produce camp videos, taking and upload video and photos and operate all audio/visual equipment.
Program Assistant Recreation Must be able to follow, collaborate, lead, demonstrate creativity, flexibility and the ability to plan and execute age-appropriate activities and events that support Alpine’s program philosophies and goals; responsible for the collaborative design, planning, and oversight of individual and team games, activities and temporary community building aspects of Junior High and High School.
Program Assistant Spiritual Formation Must be able to follow, collaborate, lead, demonstrate spiritual maturity and teaching abilities along with creativity and flexibility; responsible for the collaborative design, planning and oversight of chapels, campfires, devotionals and other aspects of Junior High and High School camps’ spiritual formation resources and experiences.
